The Naked and Famous drop their debut album on Monday. Anticipated. Right? Their blog buzz is growing with international remixes of “young blood” (so good we have to drop it twice) getting plenty of clickage. I’m particularly feeling this

Just in time for Father’s Day down-under comes a simply adorable tune and video by one Emily Capell, “My Dad’s a Smiths fan”. All we know is from her MySpace, “an upcoming singer song writer from North West London.” With only a handful of views of the video and fans on MySpace she hasn’t “come [Read the Rest...]

First Aid Kit are coming… to Auckland. Sadface. Luckily they did a Daytrotter live session a couple of weeks ago so at least we get today’s awesome track Tangerine, amongst others, to listen to.

We were surfing through a mass of awful remixes of Gala’s classic 90′s anthem Free from Desire when amongst the rubble we found spanish Mendetz‘s cover of the tune from last year. Not only is it faithful to the original but its extra endearing and sincere – not something you can say about a dance [Read the Rest...]

Carman is not a fictitious character from a Saturday Night Live skit. I had to double-check this when a friend introduced me to his music. No, he’s a genuine happy-clapping hard-selling entertainer. This song is like the theist answer to Carl Sagan autoned tune – with its stellar 90′s sci-fi special effects and lines like [Read the Rest...]

The only problem with Katy Perry’s summer anthem and duo with Snoop is that it is winter down in this part of the world. To the rescue comes the Majestyy remix which slows it riiiight down and makes it suitable for listening to while lazing in front of the heater.

Voom aren’t exactly prolific – their two albums were released almost a decade apart, with the last nearly 5 years ago. But they both contain well honed fuzz rock numbers which translate into awesome live. We nearly didn’t catch them last night. We walked by the venue and the queues looked insurmountable so we went [Read the Rest...]
