Sonic Youth – Kissability

By Thomas 20 February 2010

No one sings about love like Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. Kissability from their 1988 classic Daydream Nation is my kind of love tune. Love is feisty.

Today’s song of the day is dedicated to @mandamonium and @darren who are getting married today. Love love. Don’t you just?

Look into my eyes, don’t you dis’ me
You’re so good, you could go far
I’ll put you in a movie, don’t you wanna
You could be a star, you could go far
You’ve got twistability
You fly hard, don’t you wanna
You’ve got kissability
You could be a star, it ain’t hard

The gloriously shouty Bandicoot from Auckland would have to be inheriting SY’s earth. My favourite track on their EP, “silence is golden” starts with a cutesy spoken “love you baby” and then goes on to pelvic-ly thrust about how golden silence just isn’t. A love song to feistyness as it were. (Listen on their myspace.)
